Here’s a question worth sitting with before you book anything: Who is this actually for?
If your first answer is “my partner,” I get it. That’s usually how it starts. But stay with me — because by the end of this post, and definitely by the end of your session, that answer is going to change.
I know because I’ve watched it happen.
My first bridal boudoir client came in with a plan. She was eloping, she wanted to gift her partner a beautiful album, and she was fully committed to that vision. Also, she even wore a football jersey repping her rival team — which, honestly, takes a special kind of love. She wasn’t a big makeup wearer, and she came in a little worried she wouldn’t look like herself with more glam than usual.
We kept it minimal. We kept it her.
When she sat down at her reveal and saw her photos for the first time? Tears. Full, overwhelmed, I-cannot-believe-that-is-me tears. Not because the photos were dramatic or over the top — but because they were authentically her, and she finally got to see that clearly.
That session has stayed with me. Because what started as a gift for someone else became something she needed for herself.
There’s a version of bridal boudoir marketing that sounds like: “Feel confident on your wedding day!” or “Give your partner the ultimate gift!”
Those things aren’t wrong. But they’re not the whole truth either.
Here’s my honest take: the women who walk through my studio door already have it in them. They’re not looking to be convinced — they’re ready, and they know it. My job isn’t to sell them on their own worth. My job is to create the space where they can experience it fully, on their own terms.
The gift for the partner? That’s a bonus. A beautiful one — but still a bonus.
The real value of a bridal boudoir session is that it’s your last hurrah as a single woman. A moment that belongs entirely to you — before the ceremony, before the vows, before you step into this next chapter. And by the time the session wraps, almost every bride walks away thinking the same thing: “Whew. I needed that.”
Not for him. For her.
You don’t have to wear lingerie. A football jersey counted as an outfit in my studio and those photos were stunning. Also, you don’t need anything you’ll never wear again. Plus, you don’t need a full glam beat if that’s not you. Boudoir with me is about celebrating who you actually are, not a costumed version of you. Show up as yourself. That’s always enough.

Boudoir is not just for one body type. I’ve photographed every age, size, shape, and shade — and the results are always gorgeous. There are too many things women talk themselves out of because they don’t match some standard someone else invented. Your body is not a problem to solve before you walk through my door.
It’s not a confidence-builder for the insecure. The women who book boudoir sessions already carry that fire. The session just gives it somewhere to show up and show out. You don’t need to reach some imaginary threshold first — but you do need to want this for yourself, not to check a box someone else handed you.
The gift framing will shift — and that’s the whole point. You might walk in thinking, “I’m doing this for my partner.”Beautiful intention. But by the end of the session, don’t be surprised when you realize this was always for you. Your partner gets a stunning album. You get something you’ll carry long after the wedding day.
You don’t have to figure out posing on your own. This is one of the most common things I hear — “I’m going to look so stiff and awkward.” That’s my job to handle. I’ll guide you, make you laugh, and help you relax into yourself. By the end of the session, you’ll be feeling yourself so hard you won’t want to stop. That’s not an exaggeration — it happens every time.
The images are beautiful. The album is a treasure. But what I’ve seen again and again is that the real takeaway from a bridal boudoir session isn’t something you can wrap with a ribbon.
It’s the way you carry yourself into that next chapter. It’s sitting down at your reveal, seeing yourself on that screen, and thinking — yes. That’s me. It’s walking into your wedding day having already given yourself something that had nothing to do with the flowers, the venue, or the dress.
You are the point. You’ve always been the point.
And if you’re a Black woman who has never seen herself reflected powerfully and beautifully through a camera lens — that moment hits different. It’s supposed to. In a world that constantly tries to define, limit, and police Black women’s bodies, seeing yourself celebrated exactly as you are is not a small thing. Representation in this space matters, and I take that seriously in every single session I photograph.

If something in this post hit home, trust that feeling.
You don’t need a perfect outfit or every question answered before you reach out. All you need is that quiet knowing — that readiness that says it’s my time.
Let’s connect and start planning your session.
That woman in the photos? She’s already in you. Let’s give her her moment.
